Japanese Aikuchi/Ko-Tanto

Here I have made a simple Japanese knife. This type of blade and handle can either be called an aikuchi or a ko-tanto.

The blade is W1 and mono-tempered. The fittings are all copper, and the handle and scabbard are red oak. A small tanto like this would not have been a battlefield weapon. Even the prefix 'ko' means small. If you are interested in a more combat-oriented Japanese knife, check out the Japanese Tanto.

 Price Estimate
  • An aikuchi like this with a mono steel blade would cost around $200
  • With a differentially hardened blade $250
