"The Yeoman" Kettle Helm

Kettle helmets, in one form or another, were used commonly from the early 13th all the way up until plate armor fell out of fashion. Kettle helms started with a spangen style of construction and usually had wide brims. This style evolved and the components of the helmet grew fewer and fewer until it was often just a raised single piece of metal. Later versions such as the Italian cabasset and the Spanish morion would see greater popularity towards the 16th century. Its most recent evolution the brodie helmet was even used in WWI.

This is meant to be a kettle helm that can fit in with either the 13th or 14th century. Its made of 14 gauge mild steel and is constructed of two half helm plates, two half brim plates, and a central band connected by a riveted construction. This particular helmet was meant to look like something a poor soldier could afford, hence the helmet being part of the Yoeman set.
