Shirasaya Tanto


Shirasaya, or "white scabbard," referring to the clean smooth appearance, can refer to any Japanese blade in this style of plan unadorned scabbard. This style of scabbard is designed for blade storage or display rather than field combat, but has grown popular amongst fans of traditional, Japanese style blades.


This tanto features a clay hardened 1095 blades which is 25 cm and 4.8 mm thick. The habaki is brass and the tsuka and saya are poplar done in the shirasaya style

  • A tanto like this would cost around $475. 
  • For a through hardened blade without a hamon, the tanto would cost $225.
